  • The Autism Services and Workforce Acceleration Act of 2011 (S. 850) was introduced on 4/14/2011 by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) to address the pressing need for trained professionals and providers to better serve children and adults with autism with the latest evidence-based information and effective practices. The bill supports the development of services and supports for youth transitioning from school to postsecondary opportunities or jobs as well as creating a national training initiative on autism and a technical assistance center to develop and expand interdisciplinary training and continuing education on autism spectrum disorders.
  • Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) introducted the Autism Spectrum Disorders Services Act of 2011 (S. 1132) on May 26, 2011.  The intent of this bill is to establish programs to provide services to individuals with autism and their families.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders Services Act of 2011 (H.R. 2007), was introduced by  Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) on May 26, 2011 and is the House companion bill to S. 1132.
  • National Autism Spectrum Disorders Initiative Act of 2011 (S. 1128) was introduced by Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) on on May 26, 2011. It would establish the National Autism Spectrum Disorders Initiative within the Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services, with the priciple goal of improving the lives of individuals with autism spectrum disorders through research focused on prevention, treatment, services, and cures.
  • Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) introduced the National Autism Spectrum Disorders Services Act of 2011 (H.R. 2006) on May 26, 2011, the House companion bill to S. 1128.
