Shante Dannil

Health Equity Intern

Shante Dannil is a summer 2019 intern with AUCD's Public Health Department. She is a Master of Public Health candidate from Southern New Hampshire University and has received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia State University.

Shante's educational focus is on improving health literacy and communication in groups that are underserved or unserved. She has previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to which she credits as an influential factor for pursuing a Master of Public Health degree. While at AUCD, Shante will work with leaders in the field to create a language access plan to allow AUCD to communicate effectively with individuals with limited English proficiency, their families, and groups who have diverse communication needs. Shante hopes to help increase access to, use of, and quality of resources for communities that are unserved or underserved, allowing them the chance to improve their quality of life and reach health equity. In her spare time, Shante loves to travel, dance, and spend time with family and friends.
