Database Manager
Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD)

AUCD seeks a Database Manager to assist and carry out work that will enhance the operations of its individual member Centers and the AUCD network in collecting, organizing, analyzing and displaying data. AUCD uses a variety of proprietary databases. This position will provide leadership to the AUCD staff and network in the effective utilization of existing and new data to highlight the work and impact of individual Centers and Programs and the overall AUCD network.

Required Competencies: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with SQL and other relational database systems. 
  • Demonstrated ability to categorize, summarize, quantify and display information.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of effective reporting and display formats 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the Internet for communication and information exchange purposes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance of a comprehensive program for data management.
  • Assist in the design of database enhancements to support AUCD strategic objectives.
  • Assist in training users with varying degrees of knowledge to effectively use the database systems.
  • Import and export data.
  • Design simple and complex data queries and develop tabular and narrative reports on query results.
  • Assist in generating, editing, and maintaining training materials; database documentation; and web-based materials.
  • Troubleshoot system when errors occur, research solutions, and promptly resolve problems.
  • Adhere to data security and integrity policies and procedures.
  • Support database users and managers at AUCD member centers and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a bachelor's program 
  • Experience with database management. 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to effectively respond to requests for information from database users at all levels. 
  • Able to work effectively under pressure with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

Desired Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of current software products, including report writers, display technologies and interactive data manipulation and display.
  • Working knowledge of disability issues and federal disability services and agencies.
  • Working knowledge of university systems.
  • Working experience in a UCEDD or LEND or other university based R&D center is a plus.
