Position: 2022-2023 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Autism Spectrum Disorder (1-2 years)

Description: The TEACCH Autism Program at the University of North Carolina began in 1972 as a system of university-based regional centers to serve children, adolescents and adults on the autism spectrum and their families. As part of the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the program has an active clinical, teaching, and research program. TEACCH operates 7 community regional centers across the state and a vocational/residential facility for adults on the autism spectrum. TEACCH has a long tradition of training Psychology Interns and Postdoctoral Fellows in both clinical and research activities. Fellowship: The selected candidate will engage in research activities focused on autism in adolescence and adulthood under the direction of Dr. Laura Klinger and Dr. Brenna Maddox. Current projects include a community-college based transition to adulthood randomized clinical trial, a suicide prevention randomized clinical trial, an employment intervention trial focused on employers of autistic adults, and several other community-partnered studies focused on improving mental health services and outcomes for autistic individuals from adolescence to older adulthood. Opportunities for supervised clinical experiences necessary for licensure are available if applicable.

Requirements: Requirements include previous training in research activities in the ASD field. Fellows with backgrounds in a variety of disciplines (e.g., clinical, school, or developmental psychology, education) are encouraged to apply. The starting date for this one-year fellowship is September 1st, 2022. Stipend is commensurate with NIH guidelines, and includes health benefits, paid vacation and sick leave, and time to attend national conferences.
