JOB TITLE: Director of Community Support
REPORTS TO: National Leader / Executive Director
CLASSIFICATION: FT, Exempt
COMPENSATION RANGE: Compensation/benefit information available upon request. 

SUMMARY: The Director of Community Support is a member of the leadership team of L'Arche USA and manages a team dedicated to the organizational development of our communities.  In close cooperation with the Executive Director/National Leader, this position designs and coordinates L'Arche USA's activities in support of the health, growth and reach of L'Arche's local mission. As the guardian of membership standards, they support the achievement of goals for the entire movement of L'Arche in the U.S. Thirdly, they implement, evaluate and revise a growth plan that furthers L'Arche USA's sustainability and enhances the visibility and impact of L'Arche in the U.S. Last but not least, they are an advocate for innovation and creativity, ensuring L'Arche's relevancy.

 CANIDATE PROFILE:  

  • Person of faith, integrity, creativity and humor who embraces the Identity and Mission of L'Arche and embodies the principles of servant leadership and accountability 
  • Knowledge and understanding of L'Arche  as a community, a service provider, a non-profit and a change catalyst. (Experience in a L'Arche leadership position is an asset.) 
  • Skills and experience in evaluation, monitoring and learning to support goals and affect change 
  • A non-threatening collaborator with experience in influencing, inspiring and engaging 
  • A sensitive listener, capable to be present to people in diverse settings and situations, skilled in non-violent communication and conflict resolution 
  • Excellent communication and coalition building skills working with a variety of stakeholders  
  • Able to work under pressure while offering integrity and credibility to the L'Arche USA's team 
  • Highly independent, with a strong work ethic, self-discipline and good time-management with the ability to be a part of and direct a virtual team who is working remotely  
  • Capacity and willingness to travel approximately four to six weeks a year
