The University of Connecticut's AJ Pappanikou University Program for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service (UCEDD) is the UCEDD of the State of CT. It is funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities and authorized under the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2004. The purpose of a UCEDD is to provide university-based training, community services including training and technical assistance, research and dissemination with and on behalf of people with disabilities and their families, across the lifespan. The CT UCEDD's emphasis areas as taken from the DD Act and regulation for the UCEDD program are early intervention and schools; Health and Mental Health; Community inclusion; and Leadership Development. As part of the national network of 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs), we share a vision that foresees a nation in which all Americans, including Americans with disabilities, participate fully in their communities.

The Pappanikou Center is located within the School of Medicine and operates as a Type 1 Center in the Department of Community Medicine and Health Promotion and has affiliations with other Medical and Dental School Department and Schools in the University. The center also has a strong community presence and has partnerships with state and local agencies and 6 other Institutions of Higher Education in CT. In addition the Center has administered a number of National Research Institutes and other projects of National Significance in Developmental Disabilities research, training and technical assistance.

The A.J. Pappanikou Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities is seeking a talented and energetic leader to coordinate the activities of the Doctoral Consortium at the University of Connecticut. This is for a full time non-tenure track faculty position in Early Childhood Special Education beginning in 2020. Rank will be based on qualifications.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate communication for the Doctoral Consortium faculty and students.

Coordinate admission to the consortia across universities

Coordinate and develop curricular experiences and the evaluation of student competencies across students.

Qualifications

1) A doctoral degree in Early Childhood Special Education or related field; 2) Experience with infants and young children with intellectual and developmental disabilities; 3) Experience in higher education research and training.
