The Clinical Dietitian is a staff member of the Waisman Center (WC), University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), Developmental Disabilities (DD) and Genetics Clinical Services Work Unit. This position will provide direct clinical services to infants and children, their families and patients served in Waisman Center Clinics; will work closely with other providers and interdisciplinary teams; and will supervise other clinical dietitians in the WC UCEDD clinics. This position will be involved in nutrition education, outreach and research activities in support of UCEDD and associated clinical, training and research programs.

We are seeking a Clinicial Dietitian to:

  • Provide nutrition assessment and counseling for infants and children with developmental disabilities (and their families) in the clinics located in the Waisman Center.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary diagnostic and follow up consultations; and provide consultation and technical assistance to families and community service providers in the area of nutrition concerns for children with developmental disabilities.
  • Train and supervise graduate students, community trainees and other Waisman clinical dietitians in providing nutrition services for children with special health care needs.

Education

Minimum:  Bachelor's degree in nutrition or closely related field is required.

Preferred:  A master's degree or doctoral degree in nutrition or closely related field is highly preferred.

Work Experience

Minimum:

At least 3 years of clinical experience working with infants and children with developmental disabilities and/or special health care needs and their families is required.

Preferred additional experience:

Clinical experience working with children with complex feeding disorders.
Be a graduate of MCH (Maternal and Child Health) LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) training program.

License or certificate:  Must be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and eligible for certification as a Dietitian in the State of Wisconsin.
