Training and Education Coordinator- Research Assistant 2

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Education and Training Coordinator is an integral and valued member of the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) core team. The UCEDD strives to improve the health and quality of life of Oregonians with disabilities and their families.

Key responsibilities for this position include educational program planning and implementation, training program oversite, stakeholder outreach and engagement, event coordination, data collection and reporting. The Education and Training Coordinator will continually monitor and direct a wide range of programmatic functions, including: assisting to develop program policies and procedures; review program operations and workflow; recommend process improvements; and communicate with faculty and staff about program policies and procedures. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal communication skills, web and computer skills, and experience with educational program planning and implementation in a broad range of media and learning platforms. The position also requires a high degree of initiative, strong attention to detail, independent judgment, and collaborative skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

Educational Program Planning and Implementation - 40%

  • Collaborate with UCEDD staff to design educational activities as prescribed in the UCEDD five-year plan including developing program goals and objectives, timelines, strategy and evaluation.
  • Conduct outreach and engage subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop and coordinate education opportunities related to developmental disabilities for students, pre-service professionals, and practicing professionals.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the UCEDD's education opportunities, including but not limited to event planning, logistics, registration, marketing, CEU administration, and managing in-person and online learning platforms.
  • Work with UCEDD staff to develop and maintain budget, contracts and agreements, invoicing, and securing payment to vendors.
  • Review education program operations and make recommendations for improvement to policies and procedures.

Coordinating Trainees - 40%

  • Develop procedures to ensure internships and continuing education are in compliance with institutional and national policies and regulations related to onboarding, evaluation, scheduling, data management, review, trainee tracking, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with UCEDD staff to develop effective systems for training programs for all types of students and pre-service professionals as prescribed in the UCEDD five-year plan including developing program goals and objectives, timelines, strategy and evaluation.
  • Coordinate internship training opportunities for high school, bachelor, master and doctoral level interns from other university programs, including but not limited to marketing, recruitment, selection, placement, on-boarding, and oversight.
  • Contribute to oversight and implementation of existing and new model programs including but not limited to planning, marketing, curriculum development, logistics, staffing events (Summer Internship Program, Empowered Youth Leaders, etc.)
  • Manage all aspects of the fellow recruitment process, including communication, planning, and organizing of interviews and recruitment events.
  • Review applications and process qualified applicants to be interviewed, plan applicant interview days and activities, and manage applicant selection process.
  • Manage planning and implementation of orientation and new interns.

Evaluation and Reporting - 15%

  • Work with UCEDD staff to design and implement evaluation plans for all educational activities.
  • Contribute to development of program goals and objectives, identification of metrics, development of tools such as surveys, and data collection strategies.
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of relevant program data, keep accurate records, and contribute to required UCEDD reporting efforts.

Other Duties as Assigned - 5%

  • Travel (potentially out-of-town) to events and professional development offerings as needed.
  • Resolve problems by clarifying issues; exploring answers and alternative solutions; implementing solutions; and escalating unresolved problems.
  • Complete training and certification programs as required.
  • Represent the UCEDD on assigned internal and external committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
