The Center for Disabilities Studies (CDS) is the largest research and public service center in the College of Education and Human Development. It promotes the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of society. The Center accomplishes this through education, service, information dissemination, and research. The Research Manager, Autism & Postsecondary Transition will be a part of the Transition, Education & Employment Model (TEEM) Unit within the Center. More information about CDS is available at

In collaboration with the Associate Director, the Research Manager is responsible for designing and implementing program evaluation and research activities for a new college-to-career program that includes a comprehensive support system for undergraduate students with ASD, and training for university students, staff, faculty and the business community. The Research Manager oversees all data collection processes and related activities, is responsible for literature reviews and qualitative and quantitative data analyses, and contributes to dissemination activities. The Research Manager also collaborates with and supports other projects and units at the Center for Disabilities Studies.


  • Oversees evaluation and applied research projects using both quantitative and qualitative approaches.
  • Develops and maintains databases and data collection processes for all project-related research and evaluation activities.
  • Assist in the development of research protocols and instruments.
  • Trains staff in study protocols.
  • Analyzes data, interprets results, and prepares findings for dissemination.
  • Performs high-quality literature reviews.
  • Participates in the preparation of proposals for research and evaluation projects; seeks external funding and, when appropriate, serves as principal investigator (PI) and/or co-PI on grant and/or contract proposals.
  • Fosters and maintains productive relationships with collaborators and research participants.
  • Manages IRB submission for all data collection activities and ensures adherence to dat security and technology security protocols, as well as CITI compliance for research team.
  • Develops and disseminates project information through publications, conferences, and other vehicles.
  • Supervises graduate and undergraduate students in completing evaluation and research projects.
  • Collaborates with other CDS units and projects on other research projects.

Master's in Education or related field, doctorate degree preferred, with three years of experience in conducting program evaluation and/or applied research in educational, clinical or related settings. Demonstrated facility with data analysis, database, word processing, and presentation software. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting strict timelines.

Experience in grant writing and research publication. Knowledge of and experience in at least one of the following: postsecondary transition, autism spectrum disorders, emerging employment and/or higher education practices.
