JOB SUMMARYUnder general direction of the Senior Associate Director, the ADA Coordinator is responsible for developing and administering policies and practices to assure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act, Sections of 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to access and accommodations of persons with disabilities. The ADA Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating assessments of the university's physical, digital, employment and programmatic access for individuals with disabilities; providing outreach efforts to disseminate information across the enterprise regarding the ADA and the university's responsibilities, policies, procedures, and resources for disability accommodation and access; and serves as the primary university point of contact regarding the ADA and liaison with relevant state and federal agencies and ADA coordinators at other institutions and associations.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
Total Hours:  8-5, M-F
Career Position.
Ability to remain flexible within variable work hours, and willingness to work evenings on occasion. Occasional travel between campus, medical center, and other university locations in the region. Occasional travel for system-wide meetings within the state of California.

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university; or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act rules, regulations and standards.
  • Demonstrated project management skills to track and report on progress of multiple projects and resolution of issues, develop timelines and plans of action, and identify and communicate with appropriate units responsible for various aspects of new and ongoing projects.
  • Mathematical and financial management skills to compile and compute cost estimates, develop budgets, and track and report expenses.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in accommodating changing priorities and making sound decisions when faced with unclear situations or information.
  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines in an environment of frequent interruptions, and changing and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with other units and offices on and off campus.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and issues, and resourcefulness to determine appropriate solutions and take action to mitigate potential negative effects in unplanned situations.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and solid knowledge of English grammar, and ability to speak clearly and distinctly to communicate on the phone and in person with a diverse constituency in a professional manner.
  • Proficient written communication skills and knowledge of English grammar in order to write, edit and proofread social and business correspondence and other documents designed to communicate with a diverse constituency in a professional manner.
  • Skill to operate a personal computer, applying demonstrated knowledge and ability to use computer software applications (preferably Microsoft Office Suite) for word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, calendar management and email, and the Internet.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential issues that require independent judgment and strict discretion, and maintain strict confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail, and ability to efficiently manage multiple complex matters to resolution.
