Position Description: The University of South Florida, Florida Center for Inclusive Communities (FCIC) is seeking a candidate for a 12-month, non-tenure track position in the position of Co-Director for the Florida Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) Training and Technical Assistance Center. Depending on rank, the successful candidate will have an emerging (Assistant) or established (Associate) national reputation for guiding prevention projects in early childhood education, family support, or a related area and scholarship in prevention science, early childhood education, social work, or related field. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with the capacity to establish and guide prevention initiatives. The Co-Director will be responsible for community and state HIPPY program outreach activities (involves state and national travel), supervision of the research and evaluation team, development of grant funding proposals, lead in the promotion of the HIPPY program, strategic planning, communication and reporting to the funder, and interaction with community, state, national, and international stakeholders.
About FCIC: The University of South Florida, Florida Center for Inclusive Communities (FCIC), is a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service (UCEDD). The purpose of a UCEDD is to provide university-based training, community services including training and technical assistance, research and dissemination with and on behalf of people with disabilities and their families, across the lifespan. FCIC focuses on the provision of education, training, services, research, and dissemination in the areas of education, early childhood and early intervention, health, and employment. Florida Center for Inclusive Communities includes over 120 faculty and staff that work on over a dozen externally funded research, training, and technical assistance projects.
The Co-Director of the Florida HIPPY Training and Technical Assistance Center (T&TA) will work closely with the Co-Director of Program operations to provide leadership to the Florida HIPPY Training and Technical Assistance Center. The T&TA Center is funded by the Florida Office of Early Learning to guide local programs in their implementation of the HIPPY program. HIPPY is a home-based, early intervention program that helps parents create experiences for their children that lay the foundation for success in school and later life. The Florida HIPPY Training and Technical Assistance Center is funded at $3.9 million and provides support and guidance to 15-20 county grantees who are implementing the HIPPY program across the state of Florida. This individual's primary responsibilities will be to provide leadership and direction for T&TA staff, and to collaborate with the funder and the HIPPY USA national office to promote effective program implementation among grantees. The Co-Director will also be responsible for representing and/or promoting Florida HIPPY at the local, state, national and international level.
In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate will contribute to the center by writing grants, submitting publications, and providing mentorship to graduate students. The Co-Director of the HIPPY Training and Technical Assistance Center will have an academic appointment with the Department of Child and Family Studies and report to the Division Director of FCIC.
Minimum Qualifications: 1) A doctoral degree from an accredited institution in special education, education, psychology, public health, or a related field by the time of appointment; 2) Evidence of an emerging or established program of scholarship including peer-reviewed publications; and 3) Evidence of experience in guiding evaluations of intervention services programs.
Preferred Qualifications: 1) Evidence of scholarship in research or evaluation in one or more of the following areas: (a) early education, (b) home visiting programs, (c) family involvement, or (d) prevention programs related to young children in high needs communities; 2) Evidence of external funding in one or more of the following areas: (a) early education (b) home visiting programs or (c) prevention programs; 3) Evidence of experience in organizing and collaborating with diverse organizations and stakeholders; 4) Evidence of experience in managing services or programs for multicultural populations or within high needs communities; and 5) Demonstrated experience as a supervisor of staff in their delivery of intervention within high needs communities.
