Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Adolescent Health and Social and Psychiatric Epidemiology - Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School

Job Announcement
We are seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual who would like to complete a postdoctoral research fellowship. The research focus will be on the study of adolescent/young adult health and social and psychiatric epidemiology, primarily using data from a number of NIH and foundation-funded studies (including prevention-focused RCTs, multi-site observational studies, and "big data" projects including social media and administrative datasets) led by PIs at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Secondary research foci can include adolescent/young adult substance use and/or chronic disease. The fellow will be responsible for research activities such as developing analysis proposals, conducting data analyses, and writing manuscripts. In addition, the fellow will participate in grant writing and the development of new projects. It is expected that the fellow will apply for additional funding during the fellowship. The Division and PIs have a strong track record of mentoring junior investigators and fostering academic professional development. The length of the fellowship will last a minimum of one year and, depending on funding, may be renewed thereafter.

The fellow will be based in the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital with a Harvard Medical School appointment. The fellow will join a stimulating, interdisciplinary research environment with the opportunity to attend seminars, colloquia, and other regularly scheduled research activities at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and partner institutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

•   PhD, ScD, DrPH, or an equivalent doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health,    
    social and behavioral sciences (e.g., sociology, psychology), or related fields
•   Experience conducting statistical analyses with large databases using SAS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Knowledge of or demonstrated interest in adolescent/young adult health, substance use, or youth 
   with chronic medical conditions.
•  Track record of, or strong potential for, independent funding

SALARY:  $50,000/year plus fringe benefits
START DATE:  Flexible, but preferred start date is Spring or Summer 2018
