Postdoctoral Research Associates - Special Education - Curry School of Education, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA

The Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applicants for Special Education Postdoctoral Research Associates focused on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) beginning in Summer or Fall 2018. These positions are part of the newly launched Supporting Transformative Autism Research (STAR) initiative, which represents a significant investment in advancing cutting-edge autism research, training, and clinical services at the University of Virginia.

The postdoctoral training experience will emphasize specialized ASD assessment, intervention, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Training and research activities will occur in local schools and at the Sheila C. Johnson Center (SCJC) for Human Services, a state-of-the-art Center providing integrated multidisciplinary services for individuals of all ages. The positions will involve active interdisciplinary training and collaboration with Curry's Clinical and School Psychology program and community partners such as the Virginia Institute of Autism.

The Postdoctoral Associates will participate in comprehensive interdisciplinary evaluations and evidence-based intervention for ASD and other disabilities. The Postdoctoral Associates will also collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects focused on assessment development and empirical evaluation of academic and behavioral interventions for individuals with ASD. There will also be opportunities for manuscript writing, conference presentations, designing and testing new ideas for pilot studies. Other responsibilities may also include supervision of trainees (including students in Curry's new BCBA® certification program) and community-based training.

An earned doctorate in special education or related degree, with autism teaching and research experience is required by the start date of the position. Preference will be given to candidates with BCBA® certification.
