The Center for Epidemiological Research for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (CERIIDD) is seeking a Director of Research. CERIIDD uses health care and LTSS data to improve the quality of lives and healthcare of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) while reducing cost.

Position: Director of Epidemiological Research

Location: This position works remotely. The ability to travel to Columbus, Ohio at least monthly is preferred.

Summary:  The CERIIDD Director of Epidemiological Research provides epidemiology project leadership, strategic input, and research to achieve the CERIIDD mission. Leads epidemiology study design, research, interpretation, and dissemination of results.

Job Tasks

Epidemiological Research Lead

  • Provide research leadership and oversight to a team of professionals who deal with various aspects of epidemiology, data related to epidemiology, and the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Contribute to the strategy, vision, and processes of CERIIDD. Provide expert epidemiological input into establishing internal standards, processes and policies for the use of epidemiological data
  • Provide a hands-on approach in designing, implementing, and interpreting epidemiology studies and results.
  • Identify and obtain epidemiological data sources relevant to CERIIDD research from state, federal, and other sources.
  • Perform critical appraisal and synthesis of relevant epidemiological literature
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices in epidemiology and be recognized as internal expert and go-to person
  • Provide subject matter expertise, guidance and direction to internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate and lead frequent CERIIDD team conference calls
  • Assist in budget development and monitoring

Publications, Presentations, and Grant Writing

  • Collaborate with CERIIDD Data Visualization Specialist to create infographs, data briefs, dashboards and other visual materials in Tableau
  • Write manuscripts and articles for submission to professional journals and other publications
  • Present research findings at local, state, and national conferences
  • Identify and apply for research grants

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Epidemiology or similar field required, PhD preferred
  • Experience compiling and analyzing complex population health data, evaluating trends, and providing valid interpretations of results for reports and presentations required
  • 3 years of experience in leading epidemiological research teams is preferred
  • Preference given to individuals experienced in building effective teams and knowledgeable on intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or Medicaid. Experience with data visualization tools is a plus.
