As part of its statewide, land-grant mission, the University of Idaho's
Educational Leadership program invites applicants for a full-time, tenure track
assistant professor with specialization educational leadership. The successful candidate will be engaged in
instruction, scholarly activity, and field-based supervision. The program is NCATE approved.
The Educational Leadership program offers advanced degree programs at the
Master, Educational Specialist, and doctorate levels. The above program position will be located at
the UI campus in Boise, Idaho, with extensive travel to adjacent
counties as part of program recruitment and possible cohort development. Faculty may be expected to travel to other
locations in Idaho
to deliver the program state-wide as part of UI's land-grant mission.
The Position:
The Educational Leadership Program seeks candidates who, in their teaching,
research and service, model educational leadership as an intellectual,
collaborative and ethical practice.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to high quality
instruction, scholarship, and outreach.
Candidates must be able to contribute to the program's principal and
superintendent certification and degree programs at the Master and Educational
Specialist levels in K-12 education.
Instructional responsibilities may include ethics and school law,
personnel leadership, curriculum management, research, special education law,
policy and politics, school community relations, multicultural leadership, and
finance. Other responsibilities include
participating as a member of the Counseling and School Psychology team and the
department (CASPEL-Counseling and School Psychology, Special Education,
Educational Leadership). The faculty are
expected to advise Master, Educational Specialist, and doctoral students,
engage in outreach, and supervise field experiences. The successful candidate will be expected to
develop and maintain collaborative relationships with professionals in school
districts and will have a demonstrated commitment to diversity. Program faculty are dedicated to serving
students, providing service to rural communities and professionals and at-risk
and minority students, and to personal renewal and development.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have 1) an earned doctorate
degree in educational leadership, 2) experience as a K-12 teacher, 3)
experience as a K-12 administrator at the school and/or district office level,
4) evidence of capacity to work collaboratively with K-12 professionals, 5)
evidence of ability to recruit students into the program, 6) evidence of
ability to teach either qualitative or quantitative research, 7) ability to
manage and supervise internships, and 8)
ability to establish partnerships with schools, educational agencies, and other
stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) experience teaching at the university level in educational leadership, 2)
demonstrated potential for or a record of scholarly research and publication,
3) knowledge of NCATE and related accreditation procedures, 4) experience as
school administrator in a setting with diverse student populations, 5)
experiences with distance delivery.

Salary Range:
The salary range for the position is commensurate with rank, background,
and experience. Opportunities for summer
