Disability Systems Technical Assistance Specialist - Center for Disabilities and Development, University of Iowa

The University of Iowa's Center for Disabilities and Development (CDD) is seeking candidates to join its team of public policy analysts and program development specialists. CDD, which is a designated University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, is deeply engaged in many initiatives to improve the delivery of disability services in Iowa. State leadership has committed to transforming the disability and mental health service system to one which provides more choice and control to consumers over how and where they receive the services they need, and to building the capacity of Iowa communities to support the independence, productivity and full inclusion of people with disabilities and older Iowans. The State has contracted with CDD to assist with implementation of many initiatives, including a Money Follows the Person grant and Real Choice Systems Transformation grant initiatives.

CDD is located in Iowa City, a center of art and culture with a growing economy, a diverse population, and access to year-round outdoor recreational opportunities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for project management, analysis and development of public policy initiatives in collaboration with state, community, and university partners. A bachelor's degree in a health, public health, or social service discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required, along with 1-3 years administrative experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated analytical and grant-writing skills, 6 months - 1 year of public speaking and technical writing experience and proficiency in computer software applications. A Master's degree, working knowledge of health, disability and long-term care policy and service systems, experience collaborating with people with disabilities, families and service providers, and experience working with and/or coordinating grant-funded programs desirable. The position requires extensive travel within Iowa and ability to work outside of traditional business hours.
