Making our universities, communities, and states more welcoming for persons with disabilities was the focus of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center visit by Sharon Lewis, Commissioner of the federal Administration on Developmental Disabilities, January 20. A parent of a child with a disability, Lewis describes this as "passion work." Lewis talked at lunch with Next Steps at Vanderbilt students, MIND (LEND) and VKC University Center for Excellence trainees and faculty, and Community Advisory Council members.
