Public/state-controlled institutions of higher education; private institutions of higher education; for-profit organizations; small businesses; state and local governments; nonprofit organizations; Indian/Native American tribal governments; Indian/Native American tribal organizations; eligible agencies of the federal government; domestic institutions; and faith-based and community-based organizations.

SUMMARY:
The funding program aims to provide research opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, racial and ethnic minorities, and others who are underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research, that will significantly contribute to a diverse research workforce in the future. The NIH recognizes a unique and compelling need to promote diversity in the biomedical, behavioral, clinical, and social sciences research work force.
