This conference is designed for pediatricians, family practitioners, therapists, nurses, case managers, social workers, and other health care professionals who encounter children and adults with cerebral palsy in their practice environments. At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Identify and discuss the assessment methods used to determine spasticity, dystonia and other movement disorders in cerebral palsy
  • Discuss the clinical relevance, validity and assessment of selective voluntary motor control in cerebral palsy
  • Describe and discuss the use of a perception/action framework to develop sensorimotor intervention with infants and children and their families
  • Discuss current approaches to clinical decision-making in the management of spasticity, dystonia and function in patients with cerebral palsy
  • Make appropriate referrals for patients with cerebral palsy
