Project Description
Edits per BK entered by ZD on 3/12/19 - With support and guidance of the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, the Boling Center, as Tennessee's UCEDD, is committed to base all program planning on the values of personal dignity and self-determination, demonstrated community need and broad-based consumer advice and participation. Our Mission is to work to ensure the integration, inclusion and full participation of individuals with disabilities in the life of our communities, through training, technical assistance, and community service, research and dissemination of information. The goals related to these core functions are: I. Training: Refine and continue to deliver a comprehensive, five-year training curriculum to address systems change in a values-based education program for future and current health care providers with focus on health, education and early intervention, and employment. II. Community Based Services and Technical Assistance: Maintain and expand current model community services and technical assistance strategies to provide leadership in and advice to policy makers so that consumers will be included, integrated, independent and productive in communities. III. Research: Conduct applied research program and policy evaluations in areas affecting the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. IV. Dissemination: Dissemination developmental disability information including resources, available services and critical policies to: consumers and their families; professionals; federal, state and community lawmakers. The 26 outcomes-based objectives and 90 activities of this Project address these goals.
