Five Years Strategic Plan Development for Puerto Rico Developmental Disabilities Counsel The State Council on Development Disabilities (CEDD) has commissioned the Institute of developmental Disabilities (IDD) of the Medical Sciences Campus at the University of Puerto Rico, the development of their next five-year strategic Plan (2012-2016). The CEDD's mission is to ensure that every consumer, every citizen with developmental disabilities and his family participate in the design, decisions and access to services, supports, culturally relevant real opportunities that promote self-determination, independence, productivity, integration and inclusion for a full life. To develop this five-year Strategic Plan a study of needs of people with developmental disabilities in Puerto Rico will take place. The methodology of this study wis to carried out several focus groups with different participants. Participants include municipal coordinators, directors and coordinators of organizations not subsidized by the CEDD, young people with disabilities, Councilors of the CEED, among others. A satisfaction survey of Directors and organizations subsidized by the CEDD was also conducted. On the results of this study, with the Councilors of the CEDD, goals, objectives and activities for its next strategic plan 2012-2016 will be develop. At the end, a final report of all the data will be delivered.
