Project Description:
The Center for Development and Learning at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is undertaking a newly funded project with the Quality Management Team of the NC Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services to interview consumers discharged from the state Psychiatric Hospitals and Mental Retardation Centers. The Division seeks to increase the ability of state and local agencies and providers to meet the needs and preferences of individuals leaving hospitals and centers and moving into community based services. Each individual will be interviewed four times and will be asked about their discharge experiences, what services and supports they are receiving, what services and supports they need, and any problems they have encountered transitioning into the community. CDL will be responsible for developing the consumer interview tool and coordinating and implementing all aspects of the consumer interviews.
