The Study of Behavior Effects of Growth Hormone in PWS
Project Description:
This project proposes to test the hypothesis that growth hormone therapy does not affect behavior problems in patients with Prader Willi syndrome. Subjects will be recruited from patients seen in the University of North Carolina Interdisciplinary Prader Willi Syndrome clinic. Baseline behavioral data are taken at the first visit for all patients seen in this clinic. A standard battery of behavior assessment instruments will subsequently be completed after commencement of growth hormone therapy at each clinic visit (every 6 months). We will also follow patients with PWS who are not receiving growth hormone therapy and administer the behavior assessment battery every 6 months. The behavior of patients treated with growth hormone will be compared to matched patients not taking growth hormone.
