EcoImpact: Disability-Inclusive Emergency Preparedness and Climate Resilience
Project Description:
In collaboration with the University of Thessaly, Life is for All (LIFA), and the Georgetown University Disability Studies Program, the Georgetown University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (GUCEDD) launched the EcoImpact initiative to advance disability-inclusive approaches to climate resilience and emergency preparedness for children and youth with disabilities and their families. The initiative brings together interdisciplinary faculty, families, disability organizations, community partners, and international collaborators to better understand preparedness experiences, identify barriers to equitable emergency response, and develop strategies that strengthen community resilience. During the reporting period, partners engaged in project planning, community listening, research development, and international collaboration to inform future research, training, and technical assistance. Findings will support the development of disability-affirming, family-centered resources and systems-level recommendations that promote inclusive emergency preparedness, response, and recovery before, during, and after climate-related emergencies.
