Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND)
Project Description:
The purpose of the Wisconsin LEND Program is to provide graduate education to interdisciplinary maternal and child health trainees, to prepare them to assume key leadership positions in education, service, research, administration and advocacy to improve the health and wellbeing of the MCH population. WI LEND also provides continuing education, consultation and direct service geared to the needs of individuals, families, MCH health professionals and policy makers.
Goal 1: Provide interdisciplinary and discipline-specific training to meet the MCH workforce development needs for graduate-level training of health and other professionals, family and self-advocate leaders who promote quality services and systems of health care for children with complex needs, such as those with or at risk for ASD/DD and their families.
Goal 2: Increase the capacity of the workforce to meet the complex needs of individuals with ASD/DD within a system of care that promotes health equity, evidence-based practice, and collaboration, LEND faculty, staff, and trainees will engage in providing clinical services, continuing education, professional development, and technical assistance activities.
Goal 3: Build and sustain capacity for evidence-based practice and training, WI LEND faculty, staff and trainees will collaborate with professionals, family members and self-advocate partners in local, state, regional and national communities, to engage in research, evaluation and dissemination activities.
