National Academy of Science
Project Description:
The National Academy of Sciences commissioned an umbrella/overview analysis of previous meta-analyses of the efficacy of traditional ABA programs. The analysis included meta-analyses of traditional comprehensive ABA programs published between 2015 and 2024 including a critique the methodological quality of each meta-analysis included in the umbrella/overview analysis. The overview considered effect sizes on primary outcome variables and examine moderators of program effects and noted where evidence may be lacking on certain types of traditional ABA programs. The overview was to provide background and critical analyses to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's (the National Academies) consensus study conducted by the Committee on an Independent Analysis of DOD's Comprehensive Autism Care Demonstration.
