Project Description:
Autism Intervention Research Network for Behavioral Health Objective: To reduce disparities in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) access to effective and sustainable interventions. The primary focus of this competing continuation is to develop a general multi-phase implementation strategy (that spans the pre-implementation, implementation, and sustainment phases) to support evidence-based practice use across autism interventions (i.e., Mind the Gap, Remaking Recess, and Self-Determined Learning Model of Instruction), settings (i.e., public schools, community agencies), and ages (birth through adolescence). Plan for Year 1: Planning year with all AIR-B sites (University of California Los Angeles, University of California Davis, University of Washington, University of Pennsylvania, University of Rochester, Drexel University, and University of Kansas) as well as community organizations (e.g., State-wide parent resource centers; local parent groups; public schools). In Year 01, we will finalize all study protocols, hire and train study personnel, and engage community stakeholders to prepare for implementation of Mind the Gap and thenRemaking Recess in subsequent years. Plan for Years 2-3: Conduct the Mind the Gap trial with 4 total agencies, 20 peer navigators, and 100families across New York State. Plan for Year 4: Conduct the Remaking Recess trial with 4 elementary schools with an estimated 10school personnel in each school (40 school personnel total) in Rochester, NY. Plan for Year 5: Prepare results for publication - assist with data clean-up, analysis of the data, presentation and dissemination of study findings, and writing of manuscripts.
