Project

Building a Translational Neuroscience Program at UNC

Project Description:

We seek to build on existing expertise to develop a comprehensive research program in translational neuroscience at UNC. Our basic and clinical neuroscience research units have already established an exceptional track record in translational studies of neurogenetic developmental disorders, and, with a newly recruited Chair of the Department of Neurology UNC is poised to extend this work across the lifespan. However, we lack an expert clinician to run clinical trials in the areas of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders, leading to a critical gap in our translational pipeline. In this proposal, we seek support to fill this role to complete this cutting-edge research team and to lay the groundwork for future, broader expansion of a program in translational neuroscience across the lifespan.
