DODD Family Caregiver Survey
Project Description:
The Family Caregiver Survey is for a family member or guardian who provides paid and unpaid caregiving to a family member with intellectual or developmental disabilities who receives supports from a county board of developmental disabilities. The data provided will allow the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities to understand the challenges faced by family caregivers and formulate policies to overcome them.
Each year, hundreds of adults with developmental disabilities who receive services are randomly chosen by DODD to represent all the adults who receive services in Ohio. The Ohio State University Nisonger Center has been collecting the data and administering surveys since 2015 on behalf of the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD). Surveys are available for families/guardians to complete online. However, if families/guardians prefer to answer survey questions over the phone, the OSU Nisonger Center has a team of interviewers who can administer the survey by phone.
This on-line survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. Participation is entirely voluntary and participants can refuse to take part in the survey and/or decline to respond to any survey item(s). Responses and feedback will be confidential, and names will not be linked to survey responses. Although responses will be summarized with others in a report to DODD, name, any identifying information, and any responses specific to the person for whom care is provided will not appear in the report. It is estimated that 600 individuals will participate in the family/caregiver survey.
