UNC Pediatrics Complex Care Intellectual/Developmental Disability Service Enhancement and Expansion
Project Description:
There is a significant need for specialized mental health and behavioral support services for individuals with developmental disabilities and complex medical needs. This project seeks to expand diagnostic and behavior/mental health support consultation services available for children with developmental disabilities and complex medical needs through a partnership between the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities and the UNC Pediatrics Complex Care Clinic. The CIDD interdisciplinary team providing specialized services for UNC Pediatrics patients is comprised of a Family Navigator, Social Worker, Psychologists, and Pediatrician/Psychiatrist. Direct services to individuals with I/DDs and their families including evaluation and consultation services to provide behavior support intervention and/or to assist with treatment planning, diagnostic clarification, and connection to local resources. Additionally, technical assistance is provided to pediatric medical care providers.
