Project Description:
The Continence Project at the Center on Disability and Community Inclusion aligns with our vision at the University of Vermont's Center on Disability and Community Inclusion that all individuals are fully included in their home, schools and communities. Challenges with continence represent a significant barrier to inclusion, health and personal dignity. Families, care-givers, school teams, agencies, medical providers and other service providers have identified a need for additional information, training and support around the topic of toilet learning. Our services are free of charge and include: Providing individual technical assistance to families and teams. Providing training and workshops to schools, agencies, families and providers in the community. Collecting and disseminating current information on the Continence Project website and through other venues. Promoting inter-agency collaboration and establishing continence as a statewide goal. The Continence Project is supported by CDCI and Medicaid funding. All work on this project is based on a self-determination framework with the individual at the center of the programming decisions.
