Four LEND audiology trainees with mentoring provided by Dr. Jackson Roush, NC-LEND, and Dr. Marcia Fort, North Carolinas Unit Manager for Genetics and Newborn Screening. The project is a continuation of a 2020 LEND project conducted by an earlier student cohort that investigated hearing screening in North Carolinas 24 Level III and Level IV NICUs. The authors of the current study, from the 2020-2021 LEND audiology cohort, are focusing this phase of the investigation on hearing screening in North Carolinas 87 well baby nurseries with emphasis on: 1) impacts of the JCIH Year 2019 Position Statement, and 2) impacts of COVID-19.
