Project Description:
In order to combat the unmet needs of social determinants of health in at risk maternal/child populations and decrease infant mortality from pregnancy to year one, coordinated efforts are necessary to efficiently address key health disparity issues within this population. Healthcare providers across a variety of settings and community health workers, are uniquely positioned to build knowledge and skills to support maternal/child health populations impacted by health disparities and its sequelae. The goal of the research is to evaluate the acceptability, feasibility, and basic effectiveness of a program to provide training related to supporting at risk maternal/child health populations. The Ohio State University will be the lead center for this project, developing and launching an ECHO network for providing interdisciplinary training using this consultative/coaching model. The Ohio State University Nisonger Center in partnership with the MOMS2B program, will develop the curriculum and disseminate the content throughout Ohio, focusing the Dayton and surrounding areas. Together, this partnership will pilot test the training model and curriculum for subsequent dissemination throughout the entire state of Ohio.
