Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disorders Training Program
Project Description:
Collaboration between The Hope Institute for Children and Families and UIC Institute on Disability and Human Development's Leadership and Education in Neuro-Developmental Disorders (LEND). UIC LEND will partner with The Hope Institute and The Autism Program (TAP) network to advance LEND goals and objectives. The project starts with training on ASD identification and family supports developed and provided to over 100 family medicine residents in Southern Illinois as well as over 100 primary care physicians, and other health and community members. UIC LEND will build upon existing relationships and curricula to advance a multi-cultural outreach program based on engaging cultural brokers representing a range of cultural groups in the Chicago area including but not limited to: Latino, Polish, Asian, Middle Eastern, and African American communities.
