Continence Project Department of Health
Project Description:
The Continence Project was established in response to a growing number of children being sent out of state to learn bathroom skills. It became obvious that many children with developmental disabilities were entering (and exiting) school in diapers and that schools, agencies, parents and other team members needed information and support around this very personal issue.
Our Services include:
? Information collection and dissemination
? Providing technical assistance to teams and families
? Providing general training and support to schools, agencies and others
? Promoting interagency collaboration and establishing continence as a statewide goal.
All of our services are free of charge and the referral/ intake process is quick and painless.
The Continence Project is an interagency grant and Medicaid funded project. The Advisory Committee is comprised of representatives from funding agencies, including the Department of Education, the Department of Developmental and Mental Health Services, the Department of Health, and CDCI.
