SOCIAL - Writing Plays for Next Chapter Book Clubs

Project Description:
This project addresses the need for adult learning, community inclusion, and social interaction for adults with IDD. Adults with IDD all too often find themselves with limited social support and systematic learning opportunities. This population rarely has opportunities to engage in meaningful learning activities after leaving high school. Indeed, skills often taper off because these individuals are not encouraged and/or supported to utilize the skills they previously acquired. In an effort to explore new avenues for learning and community engagement, this proposal will provide further means for NCBC members to be included in their clubs through dramatic readings or performances of plays written in simple language. NCBC staff wrote 6 original plays that can be read individually, collectively, or performed as a dramatic activity.
