NCBC - Florida Developmental Disabilities Council contract (year 2)
Project Description:
The Florida DD Council (FDDC) and The OSU Nisonger Center partnered for a second year to focus on the sustainability of the FDDC grantee programs from year 1. To accomplish this, representatives from both affiliates as well as the FDDC traveled to Columbus to participate in an intensive, two-day training. This training sought to a) help them to clarify and address specific needs with regard to ongoing administration of the program, b) teach them how to provide ongoing facilitator training related to literacy (associated with increased facilitator satisfaction and retention), and c) provide them with an opportunity to visit several book clubs in our area for the purpose of observing best practices and talking with veteran facilitators and members. Additionally, we Nisonger staff provided comprehensive evaluation services for FDDC regarding the programs' potential for sustainability as well as the individual clubs' and members' progress. We remained on project advisory committees for each affiliate and we will remain available for technical assistance as needed.
