Assessment of Early Intervention Outcomes

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2011
Contact Information:
Project Description:
The University of Wisconsin - Waisman Center was selected to facilitate a data driven approach for measuring early intervention (EI) outcomes of children identified with a hearing loss. Through this approach, project staff will systematically improve the service provision of EI providers, demonstrate the efficacy of universal newborn hearing screening and establish a model for technical assistance for Birth to 3 programs in Wisconsin. The experience of Year 2 videotaping will dictate a new activity for the provision of technical assistance for Year 3. The proposed activity will further spread the use of video taping technology and methods to support assessment and intervention strategies to enhance child outcomes. This will be accomplished through a joint collaboration with Wisconsin Sound Beginnings, the Wisconsin Deaf and Hard of Hearing Outreach (WESP-DHH), and the Wisconsin Birth to 3 Program using existing equipment. This approach will incorporate the expertise of the Waisman Center staff and solidify the process that will be sustained with the WSB and WESP-DHH programs. Additionally, the Waisman Center staff will collect follow up program evaluation and child outcome information for children who were involved in the first round of data collection as they prepare to leave Birth to 3.
