National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders (Autism PDC)
Project Description:
A multi-university center (UNC-Chapel Hill, FPG Center; UC-Davis, MIND Institute, UW-Madison, Waisman Center) to promote use of evidence-based practice for young children with autism spectrum disorders. Purpose is to promote optimal development and learning of infants, children, and youth with ASD and provide support to their families through the use of evidence-based practices. The goals are to :Increase the number of highly qualified personnel serving children with ASD through sustainable technical assistance and professional development;Increase the capacity of states to implement evidence-based practices for early identification, intervention, education, professional development, and technical assistance. This will be accomplished through content development, professional development, technical assistance, and
evaluation. Emphasis will be on practical application of EBP in schools and early intervention programs through effective professional development appraoches that include onsite coaching/mentoring in model educational settings.
