Addressing Disparities in the Learn the Signs/Act Early campaign: Reaching Families at Risk for Child Maltreatment
Project Description:
This project is evaluating the use of an established program that reaches underserved, high-risk children by conducting awareness education on child development using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Learn the Signs/Act Early (LTS/AE) campaign materials through encouragement of follow-up for children who may be displaying developmental delays. The project will assess the impact of the LTS/AE awareness education conducted by home visitation staff working with families in the child welfare system (CWS). The overarching goal of this project is to address disparities in the early identification of developmental delays among children at risk for maltreatment and who are at disproportionate risk for experiencing such delays. The long-term goal of the research is to demonstrate an effective approach to ensuring developmental awareness and follow-up of children in the CWS using home visitation workers.
