Inclusion Facilitator Training Option
Project Description:
The Inclusion Facilitator Training Option within the Education Department at the University of New Hampshire is a 7 course sequence that can be taken by students enrolled in the M.Ed. program to gain an advanced certification credential in "mental retardation."
Some of the program's unique features include: instructors include individuals with disabilities and family members and a focus on values- and research-based rationales for inclusive education.
The courses include: Contemporary Issues in Developmental Disabilities; Inclusive Assessment, Curriculum, Instruction, and Supports; Seminar in Augmentative Communication; Positive Behavior Supports; Facilitating Social Relationships; Teaching Reading to Students with Disabilities; and Leadership and Systems Change.
Teachers with the skills taught in these courses are in high demand throughout the state of New Hampshire and nationally.
