The South Carolina and Louisana Community Development Project
Project Description:
The goal of this project is to implement a community development model in 4 communities across two states (SC & LA) that will create/celebrate community connections for all citizens. The project's underlying premise is that all communities and all of their citizens have capacities/needs. Further, all citizens, including those with disabilities, must be leaders in building social capital for the community's citizens. To address this goal, the project will develop/implement a program to 1)organize 4 civic coalitions across the two states, 2) identify social capital assets, priority needs, and desired community outcomes, 3) implement Community Development Plans, 4) monitor/evaluate the model/outcomes, and 5) nationally disseminate a manual describing the model/findings.
