2002 Infrastructure Study
Project Description:
This study answered the key question: "To what extent are Direct Support Staff being recruited, retained and supported to provide quality DD Waiver services to adults with developmental disabilities?"
The study was guided by a Steering Committee that included self-advocates with disabilities, family members, advocates, community providers, and systemic representatives. The study included 3 components: 1) Literature Review 2) Qualitative Research: Perspectitives of Self-Advocates and Other Key Stakeholders, and
3) Quantitative Reseach: Perspectives of Direct Support Staff. An Exectuitve Summary includes key findings and recommendations with more detailed strategy descriptions in each component. The entire report is posted on the Community Support Allicance, Center for Development and Disability web site. Disemmination is occuring now both within the state (to promote the recommendations) and nationally.
