Get Guam Teleworking - Access to Telework Fund Program
Project Description:
Planned goals and objectives of the Get Guam Teleworking (GGT) Project include: 1)establish a permanent and separate account with a financial institution on Guam utilizing a proposal process; 2)generate policies and procedures for GGT; 3)network with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in the creation of a GGT Micro-Credit Board with the majority membership of individuals with disabilities and to expand the SBDC's skill in working with individuals with disabilities seeking telework; 4)advertise availability of GGT program and the applications of telework; 5)work with interested applicants in determining specific computer technology needed to enhance access to technology and increase employment opportunities; 5)establish SBDC counseling component on business plan development in concert with application for bank financing or leasing application; 6)provide referrals to Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Providers and to the Client Assistance Program to maximize supports to individuals to ensure non-duplicated finding of computer and related technology; 7)provide computer and related technology training for recipients of loan or lease; 8)provide follow up monitoring and technical assistance to recipients of the loan or lease program; and 9)maintain data and reporting information on success of program and status of funding.
Project outcomes include the short-term outcome of increasing access to technology for individuals with disabilities with an anticipaated minimum of 250 by the end of five years. The long term outcome of increasing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities will result in a minimum of 10% of loan/lease applicants obtaining employment or increasing income within six months of receiving equipment. Another 30% of the loan/lease applicants will obtain employment or increase income within 12 months of receiving equipment.
