Project Description:
Fulfill the need to provide a consistent operational understanding of the various programs BLM manages. Present, promote use of, and evaluate the effectiveness of online education training to the public and BLM partners, staff, and volunteers on BLM's varied responsibilities for (1) National Scenic and Historic Trails; (2) Wild and Scenic Rivers; (3) Wilderness Study Areas; and (4) National Monuments and National Conservation Areas.
The benefit of the online learning courses will promote and stimulate public purposes to include education, development of responsible citizenship in conservation matters, and further the understanding and appreciation of natural and cultural resources.
The messaging and recruitment of the underrepresented groups, youth, and specific audiences to the online learning courses, with the addition of introductory courses on BLM, will increase public access and use of public lands.
The project will engage recipients, partners, communities, and/or visitors in shared environmental stewardship.
The information, products and/or services identified or developed by this project will be shared through a variety of strategies to increase public awareness, public use, knowledge and support for historic preservation, and improved stewardship of the nation's cultural and historical heritage.
The scientific community and researchers at Indiana University that are external to BLM will gain new knowledge through studies and related results dissemination of the effectiveness of online education on the use of public lands by underrepresented groups, and increased knowledge and support of the nation's natural, cultural and/or historical resources.
