Project Description:
The University of South Dakota Center for Disabilities is excited to announce the return of its 5th Annual Run Walk & Roll, taking place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Elmwood Park in Sioux Falls. The inclusive community event welcomes individuals of all ages and abilities to come together for a morning of fitness, fun, and awareness. Run Walk & Roll features a timed 5K, a FREE 1-Mile Fun Run, Walk & Roll, and a virtual participation option, ensuring everyone can participate in a way that works best for them.
This year's event will spotlight the critical role of early childhood development in shaping lifelong health, learning, and well-being. Through community engagement and education, the event aims to raise awareness that every child develops differently and to emphasize the importance of early identification, intervention, and support for developmental needs.
In addition to the races, attendees can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities throughout the morning, including Children's Museum of South Dakota sensory activities, Sioux Land Libraries Book Mobile, food trucks, an obstacle course hosted by Rock the Spectrum, balloon animals, face painting, yoga for all abilities, and MORE! The event schedule includes race-day packet pickup and yoga beginning at 8 a.m., the 5K race at 9 a.m., the 1-mile event at 10 a.m., and activities continuing until noon. Participants will also have opportunities to win finisher prizes, making the event even more rewarding for runners, walkers, rollers, and families.
The Center for Disabilities remains committed to making the event accessible for all participants. Accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities, including access to a racing chair and support for participants who are blind or have low vision.
Run Walk & Roll is about more than crossing a finish line; it is about building awareness, fostering connections, and creating opportunities for everyone to participate.
Registration is now open. Participants are encouraged to register by August 24 to ensure availability of event shirts in their size.
