NICHE-MED: IDD curriculum for medical students

Project Description:
The Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) curriculum opportunities for Stage 1 students program will develop, implement, and evaluate an elective short course on IDD for first and second year medical students at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine for academic year 2026-2027. The program is a collaborative effort between the UConn School of Medicine and the UConn Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service (UCEDD). The National Inclusive Curriculum for Health Education - Medical (NICHE-MED) is a curriculum initiative of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD). Through this project, the UConn UCEDD and UConn School of Medicine join cohort 8 of this initiative. Cohort 8 includes 9 medical schools.
