Project Description:
This project addresses the need to bridge the gap between research and practice in the field of specific learning disabilities. Despite advances in cognitive science and educational theory, many students with learning disabilities continue to face significant challenges due to insufficient evidence-based strategies and a lack of robust professional development among educators and clinicians. There is an urgent demand for initiatives that not only generate actionable research insights but also promote effective dissemination and implementation within schools, clinical settings, and policy arenas. Improving identification, intervention, and support for students with learning disabilities is critical for their academic success and long-term well-being.
The overall goals of this project are twofold: First, to enhance collaborative research between leading institutions, thereby producing comprehensive analysis and actionable knowledge related to cognitive processes and reading/writing skills, which can inform specific learning disability assessment and identification. Second, to strengthen leadership capabilities within the field through targeted professional training, equipping educators, researchers, and clinicians to translate new research findings into practical, evidence-based strategies. Key objectives include: conducting joint data analysis of hundreds of test batteries, developing impactful professional training presentations, enrolling in a strategic leadership course focused on organizational communication and team management, and expanding outreach with workshops and webinars designed to mentor colleagues and shape educational curricula.
