Women with high-risk pregnancies may require supportive services to deliver healthy babies and to have safe postpartum periods. Parents with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit may face challenges to prepare to bring their infants home and can benefit from additional assistance. Many families have trouble getting connected to appropriate services for themselves and their children. The Parenting Support Program-Early Intervention (PSP-EI) is a Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) funded program designed to serve pregnant women with high-risk pregnancies to have healthy birth outcomes and optimal postpartum periods. The program also supports families with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, whose babies may be at increased risk for chronic health conditions, developmental delay, or disabilities. PSP-EI seeks to intervene early with both populations to provide supportive services, family education about warning signs during the critical postpartum period and smooth the transition from NICU to home via relationship building, parental education, developmental screening, and connections to community-based services. PSP-EI can provide a safety net through home visiting to address a range of family needs within their own homes and community settings. PSP-EI tailors services to meet family's special circumstances. Many children are found eligible for help or services late and early intervention is delayed. PSP is here to bridge the gap and ensure early identification and connection to necessary services for families both with and without disabilities, but whose children may be at risk for disabilities or special health care needs. Program goals include: (a) Personal visits within home and community settings, (b) Adult and child screenings for health and wellbeing, and growth and development, (c) goal setting in the areas of importance for parents to build their knowledge about their child's development and to grow their parenting skills, (d) health information on parent preference or need on breast feeding, smoking cessation, well child visits, and family wellbeing, and (e) referrals to community resources and services. .Anticipated outcomes include:  improved maternal birth and postpartum outcomes,  early referral for postpartum health and mental health concerns  increased parental knowledge of child development, and parenting skills  early referral to early intervention services school readiness
