Project Description:
This FCLC training project objectives include: 1. Promoting inclusive faith support practices in faith communities and bridge the service and faith community gap. This objective will be measured through a self-report survey instrument employing Likertscale and free response items. Improvement will be quantitatively measured by an increase in the proportion of respondents endorsing feeling "Somewhat prepared/above average" or "Very prepared/expert" to enact disability-centered inclusion practices and policies in their faith communities, and qualitatively assessed through specific descriptions of implemented policies captured in free response items. This outcome will also be captured through the self-evaluated impacts of the mini grant funded projects included in the post-completion reports. 2. Expanding faith community leaders' knowledge and skills in promoting belonging, creating a positive social atmosphere rooted in the understanding of the needs and strengths of people with disabilities and their families, and serving as inclusive faith support ambassadors and advocates within their communities. This objective will be measured through a self-report survey instrument employing Likert-scale and free response items. Improvement will be quantitatively measured by an increase in the proportion of respondents endorsing "Agree" or "Strongly agree" to items probing their attitudes, beliefs, and actions towards disability inclusion. 3. Promoting awareness and decrease the stigma connected to intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and mental health conditions among faith leaders and community members; and 4. Improving the health outcomes for people with intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities and their families.
